THE HISTORY OF OUR PARISH  

1870 First Mass celebrated at Town Hall on August 21st
1885 Land purchased on Atlantic Ave
1890 St. Mary of the Assumption Church opened
1904 St. Catherine Church at Stony Beach dedicated
1915 St. Ann Church dedicated
1928 St. Mary of the Bay dedicated (replacing St. Catherine)
1938 Town divided into two parishes: St. Mary of the Assumption and St. Ann
 
St. Mary of the Assumption assigned its first resident pastor; St. Ann is under the direction of Cardinal O’Connell and seminary staff during summer, and pastor  of St. Mary in the winter
 
1944 St. Ann Parish suppressed; all Hull one parish
1988 August - parish celebrated 50th anniversary
    September - St. Mary of the Assumption and St. Mary of the Bay closed. Parish consolidated to St. Ann Church
 
1994 Easter - St. Ann Church closed for renovation
    St. Mary of the Bay opened for worship for summer
 
    September 25th St. Mary of the Bay closed, St. Mary of the Assumption opened for worship
 
    December 11th St. Mary of the Assumption closed
 
    December 17th : Renovated St. Ann Church  dedicated
